Smok Novo 2 Pod Kit
Our newest favorite is the recently released Smok Novo 2 Pod System. Designed as an upgrade to the original Novo, the new version brings all the features users have come to love but with improvements in both design and performance that bring the Novo 2 to a new level.
The first thing we noticed about the Novo was the familiar cobra design of the first line had been replaced with the colorful resin patterns made popular by the Smok Nord. Choices such as Blue/Black and Black/White resins are a very nice improvement over the old design. New to the Novo 2 line is also a White with 7 Color Spray unit that appears to be inspired by modern art and already one of our favorite new designs this year.
Beyond just style, the Novo 2 incorporates an upgraded internal battery that holds 800mAh of capacity, which makes it more suitable than ever for all-day vaping. The large battery does not proportionally affect the size of the device as it weighs in at only 3g more than the original Novo. We found the size to be the perfect fit between the, in our opinion, too small Novo and the often-bulky feeling Nord.
What sets the Novo 2 apart in our tests was the new dual-channel airflow design that brought more vibrant and complex flavors for both the salt nic and freebase e-liquids that we tested the device with the device. Though the battery is compatible with the original Novo Replacement Pods, it was when we matched it with the new Novo 2 Pods that we really noticed the improvements from the unique airflow.
The kit that we tested came with both a 1.0Ω Mesh Coil that allowed us to hit freebase juices like no other pod before it, and for MTL vaping, we found the new 1.4Ω Dual Coil to offer consistently flavorful hits with a variety of salt nics. From what we have heard, Smok also has plans to release a 1.4Ω Quartz Coil for the Novo 2 that will be designed especially for CBD and other oils, so check back soon for our thoughts on this.
Besides all these reasons to love the Novo 2, Smok has announced that the device is covered by their first every 12-month guarantee from Manufacturer’s Defects. Let’s face it, if there have been any complaints about pod systems, it’s usually how easily the battery can go bad and we don’t believe Smok would make this promise if they didn’t have faith in the units!
Suorin Edge
Once again, Suorin disrupts the industry. This new device has removable battery packs to ensure longevity. Instead of having to replace your entire pod device, you simply buy a replacement battery pack once you’ve reached the limit on the charge cycle!
One of the underlying features of the top open pod systems in this list is versatility, and the Edge is the front runner in this category.
